« on: December 10, 2009, 11:14:40 am »
Im about to purchase a new vehicle next week. I have benn deciding btw the two for the longest.I have been following the debut of the new 10' Camaro for about 5 years and the only reason i am considering the 10' Mustang is because i had the opportunity to rent one forr the weekend and loved the experience. GM was trying to copy the '69 camero and dropped the ball badly. The rear quarter looks a little like the '69 with the slashes in front of the rear wheels, they employed a dropped running light in the front which matches to an extent the only other year with a dropped light...'69, although they spread them out farther than the previous model. The dash, console and gauges are a pretty close match. They tried to give the effect of a chopped top while still maintaining head room and made the lower body look all out of proportion and too tall in my opinion.

Ford was of course mimicking the '67 and I can tell they tried a bit harder then GM did.

So what is my advice?

Buy the Dodge Challenger which is almost identical cosmetically to the '70 model. And although I don't think the hemi is their most impressive engine I have been told when equipped with the 8cylinder Hemi  it will easily do the 180 MPH that the speedometer boasts.

The '10 dodge challenger makes my nipples every bit as hard as the '70 and even the 71 models do.

Sticker price of the new machine I looked at yesterday....'bout $46,000

One other fact that you may or may not wish to consider.....

The '69 camero is valued substantially higher than the Ford or even the Dodge some fully restored cameros are valued in excess of 150thousand dollars. The 70Challenger is next followed by the '67 Ford Mustang.

That is not to say that these modern day clones will follow suit and be highly sought after collectors items, but then really, who could have known back in 1969 that the Z28 would one day be worth almost 40 times what it sold for new?

they're both great cars, but I think the mustang is more for an older person, camaro more for a younger person.
