Referrals being active?

What does this mean? Does it mean if they're not active I don't get credited? I don't get it. I only have $5 in surveys right now, the rest is referrals! haha i can't lose them!

You won't get credited ($1 bonus) unless they verify their email and then you will be credited again ($2 bonus) after they do their first offer. Otherwise the only time you get any refferal bonuses is when they cashout ($5 bonus) because the first two bonuses are a one time bonus for each refferal.
