Bummer! In the middle of a survey and lost power
« on: October 29, 2020, 10:53:33 am »
When electric goes out, I have no TV, internet, or phone. So I twiddle my thumbs if I don't have a decent book to read. With the Emerald Ash borer and Spotted Lantern Flies killing the trees, a lot of power outages are happening this fall. This one this morning was only 3 hours but it was the 3rd one this month. The first one was 5 minutes, the 2nd one 5 hours in the middle of the night and this morning's 3 hour. Why, with all this technology, don't the crews know where the trouble is???? They rode up and down the street for almost a half hour looking. My husband saw it happen so in the pouring rain (Zeta remnants), he went out to tell them. Half hour later, we had power again. As usual, it was tree limbs on the wires the robot said. I just can't believe the company doesn't have a monitor to pinpoint where the outage is through technology.

Oh, well. Back to trying to do a couple surveys. I'm just not happy that I was halfway through the one I was doing when it happened and lost that $.75.

This happened to My son about a month ago.  He had to stay with my daughter at her house. Think it was one of those over 100 degree days.  My son, wife and 4yr old grandson.  Grandson had a lot of fun with my other grandson first sleepover. Power was back the next day.. happened to many here in ca thankfully not us.

I have not had a power outage interrupt a survey, but a few days ago, my internet connection went out just as I was approaching the end of a survey I was taking.

I have had similar things happen and it is a bummer. Sometimes the outage or internet glitch was just a second or two but I lost the survey and could not get it back.

I don't think I've ever had a power outage during a survey.  That would just be so disappointing, being halfway through for a higher paying one.  They are hard enough to find without having the challenge of a power outage!!!

That's a strange occurrence...right in the middle of a survey...disappointing.

Ouch! I am sorry to hear, OP. As frustrating as that is, however, please remain motivated!

We lost power from Zeta early in the morning on Thurs. No electricity for 30 hours, but we were lucky; some folks around our area in NC still don't have power today (Sunday)

That's terrible, but I guess it happens to all of us once in a while. Doesn't make things any better though.

So sorry this happened to you.  Nothing is worse than to be in the middle of something important and the electricity goes out.  You just have just lost everything you were working on.
