Good Ole' Microsoft and Windows 10
« on: October 04, 2020, 01:11:41 pm »
First of all, let me say I have a fairly old laptop which I installed Windows 10 on about a year and a half ago because Microsoft wouldn't leave me alone.  Sometimes I feel this was such a mistake.  I certainly hope that new computers with Windows 10 are much better than the experience I have had with it.  About every second or third update is a new challenge.

The main problem is how it messes up my cursor.  It is sometimes almost impossible to use for several days.  The latest update left me with a cursor that you can't drag items from one place to another.  It messed up 2 different surveys for me.  After taking various actions that seemed to make it even worse, I went into settings and took my computer back to how it was a week ago!  Problem fixed!!!

This is very frustrating!  Do any of you experience this issue?  How have you dealt with it, if so?

I just got an older laptop from my daughter and it has windows 10 on it. I only needed the windows for different programs to run my videos and edit some stuff. I also use google chrome for a browser which has never given me problems

What do you mean "Microsoft wouldn't leave me alone"? I have an older pc with windows 8, and it's never prompted me to install 10.  ???

I have an ASUS and I am so tired of the cursor skipping all over the place.  I can look up and everything that I had typed in was gone.  I really wanted to drop kick my Laptop.

It can be a daunting.  I purchased a windows 10 and still learning things about.  I rarely click on those things they send out.  I hit the  x on those popups and keep moving.

I haven't installed Microsoft 10 on my old labtop, but my labtop keeps flagging alert that the old Microsoft version I have will no longer be supported by year end. So, I think I will have to install Microsoft 10 version soon.

You might need to reinstall your mouse. I would type in "Microsoft 10 cursor problems or reinstall" in your search engine and see what comes up.

Thanks for the suggestion but I have tried deleting and installing new drivers as well as running programs which are suppose to search for any new drivers needed.   Right now my cursor is working fine again but I never know when an update is going to mess me up once more.  Sometimes it is minor; other times the update really jacks up my cursor badly.  I wish Microsoft would not encourage downloading new versions until they are free of issues.

My laptop is old enough it can't be updated.  So I have similar problems, but because technology moves faster than my equipment wears out.

I too had a similar problem, updated Win10 and the security self-set to "high" and nothing would load, had to move it down to "basic", then everything was fine again.
