About Papayas
« on: June 03, 2020, 09:06:59 am »
Let papayas ripen at room temperature until the skin is mostly yellow-orange.

Slice in half lengthwise, scoop out the black seeds with a spoon, cut off the rind, then slice into chunks.

Top with a squeeze of fresh lime juice before you dig in.  The acidity really peps up the flavor.

I really like papayas but don't buy them often for some unknown reason.  However, my mouth is watering for a fresh, ripe, sweet papaya after writing this!

Our family loves papayas for both eating them directly as well as cooking them in soup form. For eating them directly, need them to be ripe first. Not needed for cooking in soup.

Thanks for the tip.  I just purchased one and didn't let it ripen completely so I ate the soft part and put the rest in a smoothie.  I'll give this a try with the next one I buy,

Have you tried a papaya milkshake?
Place the papaya chunks in a blender,
add water or your favorite milk to make a
shake/smoothie. Now try it. Not sweet enough?
Add some sugar or honey. Turn your blender
again. I hope you like it!

I don't think I have ever tasted Papayas that I can remember.  I think there was some in a jarred mixture of tropical fruit but I am sure fresh would be better.  Thanks for all the fruit information appreciate it.

I usually eat them candied but maybe I'll pick up a fresh one to try. Sounds delicious! :)
