Have you tried going to Add and Remove Programs and just uninstalling the Chrome software that is giving you trouble?

Everything is fine now but my memory is that I was not able to uninstall for some reason.

Glad to hear it's all working and fine now, ya just never know what a problem is caused from. I'm having issues getting my laptop to go "to sleep" currently. I have a new background program that I think may be causing the issue, but I stopped it from running and tried to go to sleep, but that didn't work either. It used to work just fine, I'd put it to sleep just about every night. But now the screen goes dark, but the green light won't go off.

I am not familiar with a Mac but do you have a control panel where you can go in and add and remove programs?

You cannot uninstall chrome.  I have it and i have never had problems with it.  I am glad to see you fixed the problem.
