waiting on trucks
« on: April 02, 2020, 12:26:11 pm »
I feel like I am living 50 yrs ago.  Waiting on a truck to come in.  When I was a kid it was the mail truck.  Came twice a day same time every day.  My father in law was a home delivery milk man.  I can imagine some of his customers waiting on him to show up the same time every time.  Today I was on my way to get some toilet paper when we got a call, the truck has been delayed.  Won't be here until 6 or 7 pm.  The store closes at 8 pm and we are expecting a long line about 45 minutes long.

I know it takes time for all this to work.  We went back out to that store, the truck was there.  Around 6 but they didn't unload it until about 830 or so this morning.  So I missed getting toilet paper again.

We were like that, two weeks ago, desperate for toilet paper due to the virus panic happening one week before our normally scheduled toilet paper purchase date (every two months from Costco). We borrowed three rolls from our neighbor, ordered a twelve pack from eBay (with a three hundred percent mark up), and received delivery alerts from an underground neighborhood group. We built our reserves up to normal levels. Last night we went to Costco fro a few items to cover my son's visit from college this weekend and the shipment of toilet paper had just come in. We were only down four rolls of toilet paper but owed our neighbors so we went ahead and bought a thirty pack which would have been our normal purchase.

I know this is slightly off of the truck topic, but still in the same neighborhood. We'll be going to Costco tomorrow morning about a half-hour before it open just to wait in line to buy toilet paper. Never thought I would see the day! Kind of reminds me of those old videos of USSR citizens waiting in line for toilet paper.  :peace:

Because of the COVID-19 you never know when exactly the trucks will be making their deliveries.

Everything has slowed down.....which is why it's important that people try to be prepared prior to crisis occurring...

I went to the name brand stores looking for toilet paper only to find empty shelves. So, I went to Dollar Tree and they had a lot. Hopefully you have one of these stores nearby.
