I think both are great options. Apple might be good but I have heard some programs don't run with it. Not sure.

You can buy almost two of every pc or laptop  for the cost of one apple computer or laptop & what they could do for you. Your better off going for laptop. Its cheaper you can get a better deal and if your not used to apples setup for os you wont have as many headaches compared to if you dont know their setup at all

I personally have an HP laptop. However, I was never a huge fan of Dell computers. I am slowly beginning to warm up to Apple products after having recently purchased an iPhone. So I would go with Apple.

I would say the brand of computer you buy depends on your budget and particularly what you are going to use it for.  The biggest pro of an Apple is that they are more resistant to viruses from what I've heard.  However, I now need a laptop for more simple, everyday things than I used to so I have found some laptops, on sale, that about $350 would have provided a more than adequate one. I am going to be in the market for a new laptop in the next six months and will be looking at Lenovo, Acer, and HP!
