Silly Signs
« on: December 02, 2019, 08:35:07 am »
There used to be a sign along the road where I live. It said "Saws filed in rear." Now I used to laugh at that sign every time I drove by and now it's gone.  :(

Do you get that it sounds like a painful ordeal, but I suppose it was a legitimate home business?

Do you ever see signs or billboards or even the sides of small business trucks that just have unintentionally funny messages? Makes life worth living. I can't recall them all, but I will post the next time I see one because I love them so much.

 Hi linderlizzie,

I just read a sad post on here so I'm glad you have this thread to bring my spirits back up! Saws in the rear does sound very uncomfortable LOL! No idea what it really means and have never seen one. I usually chuckle at the "slow children" sign and imagine youngsters moving in slow motion as if I'm going through an infected area or something. How about the "wrong way" sign? like the quote from the movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles "how do they know where we're going?"  ;)

Legitimate.  We have several people that live in our areas that sharpen saws as a side job.
Have a wonderful day!

Planes, Trains and Automobiles is one of my favorite movies of all time. We use that quote you mentioned a lot and then laugh about it all over again.

Taking my coat off while I'm driving brings back the scene from the same movie and I crack myself up thinking about what I must look like struggling in the car.

The Slow Children sign also gives me pause. Kind of politically incorrect.  You think slo mo and I think mentally deficient. Definitely not the intent of the sign.  :silly: They could at least use a comma or apostrophe between the word "slow" and the word "children" there.

Yeah, Planes, Trains and Automobiles is a classic! We all have moments in life that leave us in disbelief, that's what adds to the charm of the movie. As for the "slow children" sign,  they could just leave the kids out of it and say "reduce speed" but the world is a more cheerful place with silly signs, we could use a few more.

I will tell you what is weird, this guy came and painted my neighbors house and he asked her if he could put an adveritsing sign in her yard. She just thought it was going to be while he did the work. It is still out there now as we speak over a month later. ???
