Slowing down is not doing anyone any favors, moving at 1-4 mph the last 24 hrs it is causing so much damage dumping so much rain.  With it lasting so long in the same area any little break people start venturing out thinking it is over.  Wish the storm would get a move on.  We have been waiting for it for days now in the western part of the state and just a little bit of light rain.

Then that is people's own stupidity.  It is not like people were not told this is coming. It is not like you cannot look at a weather map and see it is not over.  It started raining her in the night.  I have received alerts and know when the flooding is suppose to begin.  If I decide to go stand in the middle of it with a video camera then I deserve what ever happens.  I have been told wheat to do in order to be safe.  It is up to ME to listen to those warnings and heed the warnings.

My feelings about leaving or not are the choice should be yours.  If you want to be stupid and stay, that’s your right, however, any and all children should be removed from the home.  If you want to play with your life, than go for it, but children have no say and they should be protected.

I saw on social media rescuers rescuing beagles, a lot of them, that were left in large cages in the yard, that area was completely flooded & water level was waist deep or so... looked like the dogs had to be swimming in the cage to stay above the water.
Apparently, they had to rescue the people in the house too.  At least they could have let the dogs loose to give them a fighting chance, or for them to climb on top of a car or something.  People need to evacuate if they are told to, otherwise they just become a drain on resources when they need to be rescued.

I also do not think emergency personnel should have to risk their life to rescue people who refuse to leave. Oh I am just gonna ride it out.  Well ya better be able to swim!

What a nightmare, especially for the people that do not have the money, family or friends to go stay out of the way.

 :rose:

That's something to think about.  There are people who don't have the resources to leave, or a place to go to, if they can get out.

lol.  I do not think moving underground is a smart move when you are talking about flooding of up to 8 feet.

When thinking about NC, I almost forgot that my dad used to live in Shallote. Hubby says near Wilmington and it was only feet from the beach. Glad he's no longer there.

They updated the deaths to 17 now. So sad. Some didn't have to die if they would have followed the orders.

As for it moving northeast, we are now under flash flood advisory until tomorrow night. Florence's rains are here now. They started around noon. People are nervous because of the rains last month flooded the towns due to the intensity of the rain and people are freaking out.

I am in the sandhills of North Carolina.  We have some flooding issues, not at our house, but the Cape Fear River is overflowing its banks.

The farther out it moves the less rain people are getting. It has already passed us. They said the same thing here.  Flood, Flood, Flood.  But it didn't.
