Car issues
« on: September 15, 2018, 10:48:08 am »
Yesterday my brake line broke. I managed to slow down and pull into an empty parking lot behind a pharmacy to come to a stop. Nearly got hit, though, so I was pretty shaken up for a while. I'm not looking forward to waiting to have it fixed. Oh, and the front tires are so dry-rotted (per the tow-truck driver) they need to be replaced.

Not a good day, yesterday.

Man I know how it feels when your brake line breaks and your away from home, I drove almost 80 miles  uphill  down hill to get home.  Shaking like a leaf when i finally got to town. Lucky me. when I got there I drove straight to an auto repair  place and parked.   Then walk about a half mile and caught the bus home. Sure glad the  store knew me and my car. So they didn't have it  towed off.  got up earl caught the bus back and from there walked to work. Then of course walked back to pick it up when finished. Got my exercise that day. But  Thank God I  didn't cause a wreck or have one. No family to help me out. they were too far away.

Drivers...drivers~Do you know what to do when your brakes fail?
First thing to do~Shift down gears...then gently apply your emergency~
(Manual or pedal) parking brake. Avoid hitting any obstacles on your way.
Readers~Do you know any other way to stop your vehicle? Let us know.

Been there done that so I sure feel your pain.  I was riding a service for the disabled after my husband died but it was so limited that I finally bought a nice little car where one of the owners had died and the other was bedridden.  Unfortunately after two thousands in repairs and then a couple of months later told the same was needed I bought a new car.  Apparently the car had sat for a long time and that deteriorated stuff.  Well best of luck to you deciding what to do about your transportation.

At least you weren't hurt and didn't end up having an accident while getting to safety. It's a little consolation, but it could have been worse. Hope things start working out for you.
