That sounds like a possible plan, also that area has a lot of federal jobs, depending on what your degree is in; while you are temping you could also check the local school districts and apply  to substitute teach if you don't mind working with kids, that way you are not locked in to anything and would have the flex ability to continue to look for something you are really interested in and have some income coming in at the same time. Good Luck.

You can't be a substitute teacher and work a temp job at the same time. It is one or the other unless you work nights for the temp service. Most temp jobs are 40 hours a week a set schedule. Most are also in factories. I agree with maybe taking a job and then keep looking for something else. Sub teaching is sporadic and you may only work a couple of days a month.

My daughter was going thru the same thing last year when she graduated with masters degree in dietitian and nutrition and no one would hire her because she did not have the experience.  She ended up working 3 part time jobs in her field to get the experience she needs.  Hopefully this will be helpful by the end of this year so she can get a full time job with benefits.  Not sure if this something that would help you but it might be an option

After college, I had trouble finding a full time job in my field. I worked 3 part time jobs for while until I could find a full time job I was educated to do. You are young and apparently single without children. There's no reason you cannot work several part time jobs while waiting for your dream job. Also, you could look online for jobs in Virginia where you have family. Or, you could just search online for the best job for you and go to where it is. You have so many options! Good luck to you.

How can you work several part time jobs? Maybe it is different in every area except mine but where I live when you apply for a part time job they expect you to be available all the times they could want you to work and they won't work with another job.  Besides that if you have a degree most likely there are not going to be a ton of part time jobs in that field. People need to think before they go to school will I be able to get a job in this field.  I know a guy who went to college and took courses to be a gym teacher and then is upset because his degree is basically worthless.  Well go to school for something you can get a job for and where you live.

Looking for "work" and you're asking survey takers. Why don't you use the internet for job searches, employment offices and such instead of a bunch of retirees, disableds   and lazy folk ? When a college diploma is worth as lil as a single ply of tp then that's a problem !!

Check on indeed dot com... they seem to have tons of jobs.
Also, check with your college, they should have job/career centers to help you look.

I don't know what your degree is in, but you might take an additional year & get your teacher's credential.
You'll be able to find a job that pays well.

Also, check with Disney, regardless of your degree. Disney has high turnaround & are always looking for staff.
Try to get in to professional services.

Good Luck.

Good Luck.    There's a good reason why Disney has a high turn around rate and it's because of the insane secret cult like rules that you must follow.
!!!  "First rule of Mickey Mouse Club- No talking about Mickey Mouse Club !!!!" No joke Disney is not  happiness as a job.

Why not search job sites online and fill out applications for states that you may want to stay. If you have family in other states, you can ask them if they know of jobs. Otherwise, get your resume updated and start filling out applications. Good Luck!
