I recall being bullied in elementary to a point where I considered suicide - it wasn't just kids, it was dysfunctional family as well -- no support system to help... I don't think it's anything new, I think it is more news today because of the internet & the easy access to finding out how to kill yourself.   I think it is wonderful that people are more in tune with bullying & taking steps to curb it.  I actually think things have gotten better in schools, at least here in So Cal.  There is zero tolerance for bullying now, & if the parents are not caring or not helicopter parents to notice, the teachers notice & it is mandatory to report.

It comes from "no home training".  Parents know that their kids are bullies and does nothing to stop such a cruel  act.  For the most part, those same parents were bullies also.  But you have to put a stop to bullying when it starts.  You let the bullies know you will not stand for it.  I remember there was girl on our school bus and she felt she was the biggest and baddest thing walking. She tried it with me and I let her know in no certain terms I was not putting up with her BS.  She hit me, I knocked the spit out of her mouth.  I was a skinny little thing and she was much bigger, but I never had any more problems from her.

I know a family whose 12-year-old son committed suicide about 10 years ago over bullying. He also had other emotional problems that contributed to it as well. It was just so sad. When I was a kid there was still bullying, but when you got home from school it was over for the day. Nowadays, due to the internet, it can follow a kid home from school and be really relentless! :(

That is sad that her whole future is gone and all her family and her friends  future with her are gone too. I don't know the bully(ies) or the girl, but do know that cruelty is common  in the world of children and  teens. It takes 25-40 years of experiences to become stable in who you are and for those around you to all be decent. Surviving life can be the toughest challenge.

That really is very sad and tragic. My heart goes out to her family. That's the kind of story that just breaks my heart.
