Pot holes
« on: May 11, 2017, 04:22:40 am »
Has anyone ruined a tire or car after hitting a pot hole. I hit one and flatten my tire a few
weeks ago. I had to buy a new tire and use personal time at work.

I've never had that happen to me, but I have heard of people needing their front-end alignments redone because of potholes! It's terrible. I think it should be the responsibility of the city to take care of potholes and if they don't, then they should pay for repair bills to people's cars.

I haven't lost any tires yet, but my front end always needs a lot of work, because there are so many potholes that are unavoidable on my way to work every day.

Our community is fighting  for the city  to fix the potholes some are really  getting big. They don't seem to care as long as they are getting their paychecks. But an election is coming up and i believe there will be some changes made in who in running our city.  Seems to be all they want to do is talk and produce any results.

Pot holes are the reason you need a wheel alignment every year

I have hit pot holes before. However, I do not recall blowing out any tires. That would be a scare for me.

I think it should be the responsibility of the city to take care of potholes and if they don't, then they should pay for repair bills to people's cars.

It can be quite frustrating - especially when they aren't obvious, but I can't see holding the city responsible for repairs to cars. The car damage is proportionate to how fast/hard the driver hit the pothole.  So if you see it or know it is coming or have reason to expect it, slow down!  Also, where is the proof that the alleged car damage was caused by a pothole as opposed to carelessly hitting a curb or some other road hazard that was avoidable if the driver was paying closer attention?

Potholes are evil and annoying and a real pain in the butt sometimes.  But they are also a fact of life and not necessarily the fault of the city (who has many different responsibilities to prioritize their resources).  Just take it easy and be observant!

I agree with UGetPaid:" Potholes are evil and annoying and a real pain in the butt sometimes.  But they are also a fact of life and not necessarily the fault of the city (who has many different responsibilities to prioritize their resources).  Just take it easy and be observant!"

In northern climates we have wide temperature ranges and thawing and melting so Potholes are inevitable.  My city does a good job of patching the potholes until the road is scheduled for overall replacement and or repair.

We joke that our interstate has 2 seasons:  Road Construction and no-road construction.  Cones and crews and equipment are out working large areas of the interstate every summer.

I guess potholes in my city are repaired well, or maybe our streets are newer, but I really can't say I encounter a lot of bad potholes where I live. Sorry that it's such a problem for you guys!

Yes and where I live, the roads are ancient dust. I literally avoid entire sections of the city to avoid the atrocious roads.
