I have become a minimalist by necessity not by choice. It was very difficult at first but has become easier over time. I only buy what I need, waste less food than before, use coupons and shop sales, etc. I also became a cord cutter and dumped cable and now only stream television. That, too, was hard at first but I adjusted. ;)

I am not a saver  but my husband is.  After his mom passed away and we had to clean up her house he said he would never do that to his kids.  But guess what still will not part with anything.  I have a garage sale once a year and there is never anything that he wants to part with.  I figure if I have used it in the past year I probably never will.

We probably all can live with less, the challenge is being able to let go of things, I try to get rid or donate things that I no longer have a use for or have not used in a long time.

I think a  lot of people are downgrading by living  in those tiny homes that are beings seen on TV.

I would love to do that to a certain degree.  I try to give things away but the hubby refuses to get rid of anything.  I give many things to charity and he never miss them.
