Mums
« on: November 02, 2016, 08:56:19 am »
Love mums and have some planted in my gardens.  This year I bought 2 hanging baskets of mums and have them in plant stands by front door.  My question is can I bring them in for the winter?  Will they survive for next fall and if I can bring them in do I put them in a garage, or basement that is warmer than a unseated garage.  Thanks for any help

I do not have a green thumb what so ever but I wanted to reply on this to bump it up so you can get help with this! I love looking at the neighbors flowers outside their homes. I wish I had the ability to grow things. I always find a way to kill everything I have ever tried to grow.  :(

I have a green thumb. If it is good for the environment, it is good enough for me.

They may survive in the house, I do know you can plant them and they will come back in the Spring

The purple ones are my favorite. When I was young my Grandma and I planted a few and they grew so big, into bushes and stayed year round with leaves and twice per year would bloom everywhere. I haven't had that luck since then.

Possibly bring them in, most of my mums died this fall, so I planted them in hopes they come back next year.  So It might be better if you do bring them in.

I like them, but do not do much gardening, and besides we live in an area with four seasons including snow :( so we usually plant annuals and hope they will be when the weather turns warmer.
