probably nothing but...
« on: May 18, 2016, 11:44:47 am »
My husband had charges on his Capital one credit card that he hasn't used in months had a zero balance.I saw a 56.00 charge for gas in Huntington beach Ca 500 miles from where we live. He called and they said were not responsible for the charge  .They are good about this suppose it happens  more then you think. They cancelled the card and we're getting a new one.

It's always good to check your cards.  Someone got my sons card and charged $300 in another city, after researching it the bank gave a new card and forgave the charges because it was fraud.

people are getting scammed so much lately --i am glad you got it taken care of so fast --someone got in my bank account last year and my bank was great --they replaced the money and went after the people themselves --

We've always checked but Capital One called us one time because there was a charge in a state away from where we lived and they were concerned.   Luckily it was us but we were so happy they were diligent and called us to check.  Have been a fan of Capital One ever since.

Typically the credit card companies take good care of their clients when these type of things come up.  In the rare cases when I have had issues, they were quickly handled.

I always keep a very close eye on my account activity and if there is any unusual activity, I stop what I'm doing, pick up the phone and call customer support.  They have always been easy to work with.

As a sign of the times, these things are taking place much more frequently than in the past.

I had that happen.... and it sucked! $1500... and it was my debit card, so it took forever (it seemed) to get resolved.

yea..it happens more often than you think. So many ways people take your credit card number and charge something. Need to check your statements and verify each charge to be sure it's yours.

So far i have been lucky and caught  the charges right away on my cards and it was taken care of right away.  The most disgusting person who has ever lived stole my sons wallet while he was in a coma before passing away and used the credit cards. I hope he burns in he**. To do that to some passing has to be the lowest of low. My daughter-in-law got it straightened out, but she din't need something like that.

I'm so glad you got it taken care of. Sometimes there are a lot of people out there who steal from you. Perhaps that card company must not be a safe company to do business with.

Well it IS something.  If they change the card number then you should be good.

I have had this happen twice, on two separate credit cards and in different years. The first one was on my Visa credit card and the second was on my American Express card. Both companies were exemplary in their support of my situation and I was credited with my missing funds within a couple of days. It is very frustrating none the less and it does make you angry that there are people out there that lack any kind of morals or remorse. I feel sorry for the banks that they have to pick up the tab for this. I would hope that, in the not too distant future, they will wise up and crack down on this cowardly crime. From my situation alone, more than $1,000 was lost.
