Have we come a long way baby?
« on: May 13, 2016, 02:03:19 pm »
Watching 2 documentaries about woman today. The first was about the womans liberation movement in the seventies. I remember some of that time but was kind of young. The second is the current day .Seems like many of the problems unequal wages, being seen as sex objects, violence is still the problem today. The newest documentary is talking about how hollywood portrays woman not giving them strong rolls. How in politics there are a low number of woman in congress. How teen girls care more about how they look then ever before. The media has skinny pretty woman in many commercials. The first doc at the end did seem to look at men taking care of kids more and other positive changes  today.Have to go finish the second doc  interesting though. These are on Netflix if interested.

Couldn't agree more, there are defiantly more strong women roles today more than ever in the films I enjoy. The progress is noticeable, kudos.

Yes, we have come a long way!  :) That's the good news. We do still have a long way to go but as you mentioned, we are doing a lot to make positive changes.

Thank you for sharing. I love documentaries and have watched some really fascinating, compelling ones on Netflix too. I'll have to check these out.
