I Feel As If Nobody Will Give Me a Break
« on: April 17, 2016, 10:39:04 am »
I have epilepsy, but I also have had anxiety from struggling with reasoning which would not be unusual in someone with autism, and the anxiety causes me attacks that resemble seizures. My neurologists need to keep in mind that my MRI came back normal, and they're getting overprotective with me. They can't help me deal with anxiety. They should understand that I do not fully lose consciousness during a seizure and can think clearly afterwards. Restrictions should be based on how careless someone feels after having an attack. I want my neurologists and legislators to give me a break about restrictions and see that I'm making the right decisions.

Well, I certainly hope they start listening to you.

I can't stand it when doctors and others think they know better than you do about your own body.  >:(

I have an upcoming appointment with a neurologist. I could show him my CPI and my individual strength levels of my cerebral skills.

What kind of restrictions are we talking about?  Are the restrictions there to protect you or possibly others?

I'm referring to driving and swimming.

You need to emphasize this to them. Make it clear that this is what YOU want, not what they want. You pay them to assist you medically, and they need to take your wishes into consideration. If they don't, I would recommend switching doctors to someone who will. While I can't fully understand your medical condition, I myself suffer with anxiety, and know how difficult it can be to manage. If you ever need someone to talk to about it, I'm all ears. Good luck to you!

Well, I just found out that syncope is easy to mistake for a seizure because of the strong resemblance on the outside. A seizure is not detectable, but syncope is. Everyone who studies seizure disorders needs to know what syncope is. Because syncope has not affected how clearly I think, I should not deserve restrictions.
