Fondue

We are staying home on Valentines Day instead of going out. It is always too crowded.

I was recently cleaning out some closets/cabinets and found our fondue pot.  It was a wedding gift over 40 years ago.  We used it a lot when we first got married.  I debated what to do with it, perhaps donating it to Good Will.   I think I'm going to find a fondue recipe and use it a couple of more times before passing it on.   Does anyone do Fondue anymore?   ???

I don't think I have made fondue in like 40 years.

Those tostidos nacho cheese jars make for some pretty good fondue.

Wow! That brings back some memories for me! I haven't had fondue in years, decades in fact. I recall going to some marvelous fondue parties with both cheese and chocolate fondue sets and it was great fun dipping your chopped veggies (crudites as I think they were called)  into the hot, melted cheese. I remember getting my mouth burnt on many occasions in my eagerness! It was a great social occasion. The closest I come these days to fondue is dipping my marshmallow into the chocolate wonderfall at Golden Corral!

Oh my goodness.  I remember being invited to stay for dinner at a friends house when I was in maybe 3rd grade.  Her parents had a fondue set and they were planning on dinner around there fondue pot.  I thought they were the coolest family ever.  They were always doing these things together and it just amazed me.  It was also probably the first time I had processed food and melted cheese in my whole life.  I thought it was the most delicious thing ever at the time.

I just love fondue!  For the past few years, we've gone to a friend's house and had fondue on New Year's Eve.  Fondue is delicious!

The last fondue I had was a dessert fondue. It was basically melted chocolate into which we dipped pieces of fruit like strawberries, bananas and cherries. It was delicious and a lot of fun too.

I've never had fondue.
But, I have experienced chocolate fountains at buffets where you dip the piece of fruit or marshmallow in, which is similar to the desert version of fondue... I think.

I would love to try the cheese one, I love cheese. :)

Always wanted a fondue pot but never got around to getting one - thought the cheese fondue with veggies and bread would be good and of course the chocolate with strawberries, marshmallows and or cake squares would be delicious.
