I put sweaters on my dog if it's cold as sometimes costumes for holidays. As long as it's not causing harm to the animal I don't see what the issue is putting anything on their pets. I know human children probably don't like half the things people put on them either

I don't have pets so I might not be the best person to comment, but I think sometimes people go a little overboard with dressing up their pets, etc.

Not into it for  :cat: or  :dog:. I have both and don't "dress" either. I think some stuff is cute but dont really see the point. A coat or sweater might be helpful in cold climates, but my dog is loaded with fur so i doubt she needs it.

I don't care for it at all, but to each his own.

I dont careless for them either, my son is usually the one who walks my dog, so he purchase's 1 or 2 dog sweater's for my dog to wear when it's cold. They do really look cute wearing them.  :dog:

I only approve of pet clothes like coats and booties when you have to walk them in cold weather. Otherwise buying a whole wardrobe for your pet is a bit silly in my opinion...I bought a Santa outfit for my cat and took pictures to make Christmas cards. It was a major struggle, she wouldn't cooperate...If it's a one time thing, or for cute picture every once in awhile, then it's fine.

I don't really see a need for it unless you are protecting your dog against the elements. I used to run quite a few miles and would take my Golden Retriever with me. Unfortunately I war out her paw pads and needed to stop running with her. I could have continued if I had put a hardening salve on her feet and had her wear boots. I felt that this would diminish her dignity. I think that a large percentage of people who are dressing their animals up are robbing the animals of their dignity. These people are looking to fill a void in their lives, possibly looking to draw more attention to themselves, or may be in a power seeking mode (looking to control one small part of their lives). Dressing up animals seems more prevalent with little dogs.

During cold weather and walks I think it looks cute to see dogs wear clothes. I don't have a dog, but I should hope that people don't let dogs wear clothes while there at the house doing nothing.

Dogs & Cats both have emotions, they also have their own "likes" & "dislikes".  If a pet obviously HATES wearing clothes, boots or costumes....then I don't think they should be forced to wear stuff.

I've seen dogs & cats both that LOVED their clothes and "dressing up" and LOVED posing for pictures.  As long as they are enjoying themselves (and many love the extra attention it gets them),  WHY NOT??  :)

It doesn't matter to me either way, I think if you had a little dog or even a big dog and it was really cold outside a jacket might come in handy when the temperature is really low.
