You sound like me.  I was married for 25 years and nobody knows what I had to put up with.  The day my divorce was final was the happiest day of my life other than the birth of my daughter.

My question is.....did you have any inkling that your marriage might end up the way it did BEFORE you married him? My question because there have been 2 marriages recently ( of people we know) and in both cases we warned the couple that is was NOT a good idea! (Actually others said the same) One couple ran off and eloped....it's been a HORRIBLE two years for them. The other couple hurried up and married (court house before their wedding ceremony by 3 weeks just cause they couldn't wait) and they are miserable right now!!! (3 months into it...) I don't even know what to say to them...we warned them. Told them it wasn't a good idea! What do we do??

Good for you!! I must say I was separated for a long, long time, going through a terrible divorce, I was paying for it, my ex was postponing it and fighting it, him along with his girlfriend. We had no children together. Nor did we have property together, the house was mine before I married him, yet I was giving him the other property I owned
and other things that weren't marital property, just to get a divorce. Then I met my present husband, not for one second do I regret having a relationship with him to hang on to my sanity. All these years later I still feel blessed to have this wonderful man in my life and have that alcoholic abuser out of my life.

Some people make really bad mistakes: Marriage is one of them.

Matthew 7:1-6, "We must judge ourselves, and judge of our own acts, but not make our word a law to everybody. We must not judge rashly, nor pass judgment upon our brother without any ground. We must not make the worst of people."

No matter what, listen to your own heart and know what is right for YOU! God will guide you thru it...
Great news for you and many blessings to your new beginning! :)

You let them make their own choices and mistakes. This is their destiny and path, not yours. Tough love is best and you can give them all the advice you want but some times they will have deaf ears. Everything happens for a reason. :)
