Food Intolerances

Does anyone have food intolerances that act like allergies? Is that even possible?

My mother has celiacs disease.  That of which I believe is a food intolerance.  Her body can not tolerate wheat or gluten.  Over a long period of time her symptoms wrecked havoc on her small intestine. Although her symptoms did not resemble an allergy.  I am allergic to tree nuts.  Guess some would say my body is intolerant to them.  For instance when I was a child and Mom would grind walnuts to make nut rolls I would have to go to leave the room.  Better yet leave the house for a while.  Standing over pecans, cashews and other nuts cause my eyes to turn red, my skin to hive and itch.  Upon digesting them I go into anaphalaxis.

That sounds miserable. I'm so sorry to hear about your mother and your nut allergy. Thank you for sharing with me.

I've been experiencing allergy-like symptoms basically when I eat something with processed corn or soy my throat hurts really badly with sores (that's the main issue I find). But I had a blood test recently that says I'm not allergic to soy or corn so I'm really confused and stumped. So hearing people's experiences helps. hopefully I can find an answer.

Not really food intolerant but my gag reflexes will kick in if I am eating some really unfamiliar food.

I'm not allergic to sea food, but whenever my Mom fried fish my aunt and uncle caught locally, I would have mild allergy like symptoms. My tongue would start to itch and I would get a headache. To this day, I don't know what type of fish it was (so I can avoid it).

I've read alot of people having problems with corn, soy & dairy might not actually be having problems with the actual corn, soy & dairy products themselves.....but could possibly be having reactions from the GMO,  pesticides and other harmful ingredients added to them.

Dairy is something that I have to watch. Cheese doesn't seem to bother me too much but milk, yogurt, ice cream, they make my head hurt and give me some stomach issues. I have dairy free days during the week and that helps quite a bit.

The GMO thing I've heard some where else too. Is there anything you can do for that?
