sometimes, a family member can take care of an elderly parent or parents.
sometimes, it just isn't possible.
I have seen families torn apart because of some deep seeded disagreement long ago and the parent(s) don't have any children visit them.  They have children and they ignore the parent(s).

There have also been parents who turn their back on their kids.  It would be nice if families would or could take care of the older generation.  But sometimes that is just not possible.

We loved our parents and they're gone now. Do NOT let any ridiculous argument stand in the way of your relationship with your parents. Regrets will weigh heavy on you for a lifetime.

I took care of my mother before she passed away.  It was hard at times. I worked full time so had to hire a caregiver for her while we worked. I have no regrets doing it.
