i've driven across the us 6 times - been on all the major interstates - visited all 50 states - been to 38 countries - an no i would not like to go RV'ing - i checked out rv'ing in 1974, but after my father had problems in Alaska with his RV - where he was broken down for almost two months with a broken rear axle.  i've seen rv turned over (us 1 to key west), rv's crashed by semi - colorado, and rv on fire - washington. so, i rent my cars, take the train, use buses, fly as little as possible, and cruise when ever i want.

Granted, I've not the traveling experience you do AHunter and can understand anyone's trepidation about, well, almost anything given personal experiences, but couldn't you also list all the various times you've seen horrific things happen to a standard automobile, too?  How many times have we heard and seen breakdowns, fires, break-ins, car-jackings in addition to the million ways to crash a car?  Trains collide or derail, airplane engines fail because of birds, buses topple off ledges and as for ships - heard of the pirating of late?  So...suffice it to say that while you're certainly entitled to your opinion of RVs (and no, I don't relish the experience your father had with his stuck in ALASKA!!!), I don't know that means the idea isn't a good one for some people.  Sounds like you've gotten to see some pretty cool things over the years though - *THAT* I do envy!  :)
