piping can be a problem in the southern part of the United States.
it gets hot and sticky most of the year.
pvc piping is the solution.
I have heard it said that copper piping has been used for years in the northern states with no problems.
what works for some doesn't always works for others.

Don't really like PVC...PVC is light (compared to it's usage), durable, and resistant. Most heavy duty mold/mildew resistant shower curtains are made of PVC.  PVC produces harmful fumes that could damage your liver or nervous system upon degradation (mainly getting heated up). Short term exposure is okay, but long term could cause major health issue. Copper can bend around stuff (good for complex pipping). But on the other hand Copper seems like it could be corroded (since metal) not sure if copper causes any major health issue.

It depends if your health conscious or if you want durable pipping.

What about copper?  I thought you were going to talk about recycling, please be more specific.  Don't just put down a word and go off on a tangent ::) 8)

I thought you were going to talk about scarcity or pennies.  Piping...I've got both in my old house.  Every time I need some new plumbing work they put in the plastic...they don't give you a choice

I've had 3 slab leaks in the past two years thanks to my copper pipes popping pin holes.  Not even an old house, just about 25 years.  Something about the copper pipes against metal causing some kind of condition that causes weakening.    I'll probably have to re-pipe....    I prefer not to have plastic, I think it is poison, poison to our bodies and poison to the environment, but sometimes there is not an obvious choice.  :(
