I'm an adult picky eater that was a picky eater as a kid. I wasn't spoiled at all. My mom made dinner and if we didn't like it, we could skip dinner......and many times, I did. I have a long list of foods I HATE: any type of seafood including tuna, liver, gravy, soups, not too fond of meat, etc. Anything with very much onions or garlic in it literally makes me sick, something which seemed to make my mom mad since she uses those alot.
I don't "waste" food since I learned not to bring home things I really don't like, just because they are supposed to be healthy for you. (Because it WILL go BAD before it is eaten.)
I'm not that into "junk food" because growing up, that wasn't an option. There's no nutritional value in real junk food.
I do a daily protein shake (because I don't like much soy products either) to get protein, I love salads, avocados, Ezekiel bread, wraps & burritos, homemade pizza loaded with veggies, and I take a daily vitamin. I don't think that amounts to "poor eating habits"....
Every kid is different. I don't think any kid should ever be forced to "clean their plate" or to eat things they can not stomach. The option to skip a meal without "fuss" worked for me and I'm still appreciate that I was allowed to have that option.
