It's a sad thing that happens but it isn't really nothing new...we really don't know where our own homes stand on. They might have built them over graves themselves and just moved the tombstones.

This attachment to corpses is irrational, true; we all know that the spirit leaves the body at the moment of death. But when people  lose someone they love, they often feel the need to cling to the last physical remnant of the person, whether it be a coffin planted in a grave site or an urn of ashes. It's horrifying to read of people who have so little respect for other humans who have that deep need.

I don't know.  I'd have to argue you don't either.  I'd have to argue no one does.  Because anyone who could tell you what happens upon death is dead or a liar.

They're....dead.  So much wasted land on cemeteries anyway, cremation should be much more customary than it is.  People should get their money back of course, for paying for the plot, but there are, needless to say, much worse things going on besides people digging up dead things.

No compassion here, huh?  Dead things?  These are other peoples family members, not things.

They corpses, not people.  They are things, by definition.  Whether or not you want to put them on a pedestal above any other thing is up to you.  Doesn't make much difference to me.  Regardless, it is a waste to purposely allocate land to things that serve no purpose beyond slowly decaying.

I have compassion for the people who had their money stolen from them and those who spent time going to the graves under the impression something was there when it wasn't.  I don't have compassion for the decaying objects; serves me no use to have such compassion when I could direct that compassion towards people in the world that actually matter.

Is nothing sacred anymore.  We as so called humans are definitely not the superior beings on this Earth.

Never were.  People who wanted to make themselves feel important labeled humans that.  We are a species that, over time, developed a big brain, capable of many tasks and emotions.  If you think there's some kind of objective superiority in that, more power to you.

God must be questioning the idea of humans being superior for the last million years because of criminal actions and horrors committed.

Yeah, he seems like quite the moral guy and all with his seven figure murder toll.  I'll be sure to feel sorry for disappointing him.

Not really.  I respect others.  A corpse isn't an "other."

I agree with liljp wholeheartedly about a few of the things he has said. My only question to him and to any one else sporting similar opinions is have you ever lost someone very dear to you (parent? sibling? son/daughter? dog?)? Now by NO means am I trying to call you naive or mean or anything...I'm just saying I'd be ridiculously pissed off if someone dug up someone who died in my family.

When you lose someone, it hurts. I understand it's nothing more than a decomposing/rotting corpse, but the emotional value triggered when walking by the grave of someone you knew dearly is priceless. Knowing that someone dug up your friends' corpse, threw it in a garbage crate, and is using the plot for someone new would be grounds for torture in my book. Like you, I don't believe there's anything sacred or spiritual about a corpse...to me it's all about respect for peoples memories.

I understand how appalling this is, however, the fact is is stems from plain and simple greed. People aren't too concerned about their loved one's bodies once they are done with services anyhow. Granted, you want to know that you're getting what you pay for but as long as you have a headstone to visit, are  you really questioning if there is a body underneath? It is distressing to know that people will lie and cheat and decieve for a quick buck but that is the way of the world. It's no worse than women killing pregnant women and stealing their babies...Why would anyone do this? Either you have no morals or you are simply insane.

Yes I'm the "pompous *bleep*," yet you're the one completely ignoring the content of entire posts and just calling people "sick fucks."  If you want to call someone names over the Internet, at least have the courage to stand up for your view of me and say it in a language all people here can read without having to go find a translator.  Of course I, and I think most others, would prefer you actually counter what I said with something worth reading.

I guess it's true what they say, age =/= maturity.  One day you might find the ability to have discussions with people you disagree with.  It makes a person look very "small" (not in relation to size) when they see something they disagree with and just start cursing at it.  Surely you can come up with some better thoughts.

To answer your question plainly: Yes.  *I personally wouldn't group a pet with the others you mentioned; I guess some people do though*

Hypothetically speaking, I would be angry too.  Not because I think humanity has lost all respect because some rotting corpses were dug up, but because someone provided me a product that I spent thousands of dollars on, and then failed to come through with that product.  I would be angry that I was the victim of a crime, that crime being stealing.  I would be angry they didn't keep up their end of the bargain.  I wouldn't be angry specifically because a corpse was dug up, or have some moral conviction that corpses should be treated as living individuals.

I wouldn't be angry because someone stole my good memories with that person...because they didn't.  The memory of my sibling being lowered into the ground is one of the worst memories I have.  I'd pay someone to take it away from me.  The good memories are in my head.  The good memories are triggered by pictures, videos, ideas, thoughts.

If someone dug up a grave I paid for -- a legitimate contract or understanding was made that the product I paid for would remain there -- and I come to find out that this contract was blatantly broken and my money stolen...that would be the source of anger.  Not some notion that it's immoral to dig up rotting organic matter.
