promotional mail
« on: June 10, 2015, 04:30:13 am »
I get mail with my neighbor's apartment number on it.
She pays me a visit from time to time to give it to me. I call the company and have my name taken off.
There are two neighbors in the building with the same last name and they get each other's mail sometimes.

Scary isn't it?!?!
I get other people's mail in my box, & wonder how much of my mail goes to other addresses that I never receive.

I used to get other people's mail constantly until I emailed the postal service about it. I was actually getting mail for people with a completely different name and address.

I turned in a change of address with the post office for my deceased father-in-law at the same time our daughter was moving into his house.  Ended up most all her mail gets forwarded to us too.  And, the other day we rec'd a piece of mail addressed to someone with a totally different name and an address way on other side of town.  Hard to know what's up with all that lol

Occasionally I get mail for another PO box in mine.  It's usually a neighboring box.  Sometimes I get mail for someone who must have had the box years ago, before me.  In both cases I just give it back to the clerks.  I also have gotten mail for a former tenant in my apartment box.  Those I just label "moved" and put it in the outgoing slot.

I'd say you need to have a talk with your postmaster.  Take the misaddressed and mis-delivered mail with you and let them straighten it out.  It'll help them do a better job.

When we first moved into our house we were not getting our mail. It just happened that the people who had been renting it had a last name similar to ours. and of course it was all being forwarded to them. It was quite a mess. I had to finally get in touch with the post office general to get it straightened out. He even sent us a letter for us to copy to send to all of our creditors so we would not be charged with late fees while we could get every thing going right. We tracked down the lady who lived her and  she would bring it by or call us and we would go down to her place of employment and pick our mail up. But it was a long 6 months before all settled down,

I get usually from my downstairs neighbor and previous tenants.. I just drop the mail to my downstairs neighbor and resend the mail back to the mail carrier.
