I'm telling you it is a good thing and nothing to be ashamed of!  Have you gone?

I never went to therapy, but like you said, there is nothing to be ashamed about going.

My husband and I went to therapy/counseling several times over our 34 year marriage.  Nothing wrong with it and it can be extremely helpful - I really need to go now because over the last four years have lost my mom and my husband and I am dealing with a lot of medical/health issues but I need to call insurance and see how much it would be.  Right now I need to go to cardiac rehab and I'm trying to figure out how to afford the co-pay on that and if I can even do it with other health issues I struggle with.

Therapy can be done with a professional or you can get therapy from any one of the cazillion self-help books/programs out there.

Some people won't see a professional no matter what. This is where the alternative programs come in like books, dvd's, programs etc...for those who are ashamed to see a professional.

Not to be religious but the church that I go has very good people whom anyone can come for a therapy sessions and it is not a religious related at all. Its like you go to any proffecional counceler and talk your issues through and get clear advice and suggestions. I honestly think support groups of any kind is also considers as a form of a therapy. As well as listening to a soothing music and meditation can also be very therapy related.
