I am celebrating!  After months and months of bone and ramus grafting and setting dental implants...top and bottom jaws...I am near the end.  Just the other day I had what my dentist called a jaw relationship and we are starting to talk alignment and bite and color.  He states I am about 8-10 weeks from being complete excepting some "tweaks" after I wear them a bit if I need.  I have been assured that they are such an upgrade from dentures that I will be "in love."  You don't know how I am over all the surgeries and being without teeth! I can hardly wait to communicate, eat, and feel more normal again!!!

It sounds like you went through a horror; but sounds like in the end it is all going to result in a beautiful set of teeth.   Too bad you can't post photos anymore in the forum, it would be great to see how they turned out

That's awesome for you!  I'm very happy for you.  It really sounds like a long, drawn-out process.  I don't know if I could stand it.  Congratulations to you and enjoy your new "smile!"

Dentistry is so advanced today.It is also a shame its expensive too.I am vain enuff as i got older to want to keep most of my teeth.

Wow.sounds like you have been in some pain. Glad to hear that it is almost over. I am sure tat you will be so glad to be rid of the dentures. My husband never got fitted right for his and therefore never wore them. It made it hard for me to cook his food. BMaston12

Yes, do what you can to keep your teeth.  Even though I had regular checkups and periodontal cleanings and surgeries BEFORE I lost my teeth, as one dentist said, "When genetics is against you, it's an uphill battle."  But do all you can.  For me, dentures were a nightmare.  Some people can manage them.  I tried to wear them everyday for about 4 months before I gave up after the lower one shot out of my mouth over and over and I choked on food that got caught on the edge of the palate plate in the roof of my mouth.

However, again, thank you all for your support and well wishes.  Keep them coming.  I don't mind!!!!LOL

Janice,i was a big fan of Soupy Sales.He was a very funny guy.I have used one of his words of wisdom on FC before,i will share it with you.

And they wont be false to you.

But as you said sometimes genetics plays a role in lots of stuff.I wish it played a role in another way,like if my brother was rich id inherit that trait too!!
