Back when I played hockey and would get soar shoulders and lower back I'd use flexall 454. It's a cream that heats up the area that it's applied to and really did the trick for me! Today the medicated rub is just called flexall but it's the same stuff, you might want to give it a try. A couple of aspirin might help too!

a long soak in a tub of hot water, with epsom salt always helps, or standing under a hot shower works too.

wife has fibro she definitly has muscle aches  epsom salt bath heating pad  vicks on her feet she laughs at the vicks one she swears its all in her head but it does seem to help so she does it she also says if her feet are warm she seems less achy so who knows

I usually take muscle pain reliever if I have a muscle pain that causing me trouble to sleep at night.

advil and  hot and cold packs or i rub bio freeze on my aches

Muscles ache because of lactic acid build up.  The way to flush it out of your system is blood flow.  That's why a heating pad or bath help but the best way to get the blood flowing is exercise.
