Insects in the Midwest

Why are there there insects and bees is Michigan? Does anyone still see insects and why were the bees so bad this year?

We got some warm weather that spiked this week and I saw a few more bees out and about in WI.  Still seeing boxelder bugs and other misc flying ones.  Outside of mosquitoes in the early part of the summer when it was very wet, it's been a relatively light year for insects.  In fact, I think bees were the most incests I really noticed, which I was happy for as they helped give me a great harvest in my garden this year.

I'd rather deal with bees pollinating my garden over the wasp infestation we had the previous year.  I think the super cold winter killed off a lot of slumbering queens which probably explains the general lack of insects in my area.

I agree with kapeh that here in MN we didn't get as many insects as we have in other years... In fact my front porch usually had wasp-nests built on it that I'd have to knock down a few times over the summer, but this year I didn't have any nests nor did I see any wasps themselves. The mosquitoes were terrible in the spring (probably because it was so wet) but they've died off now. The box elders are the only insects that still seem to be active.

There are insects everywhere!! For the bee issues may be because the atmosphere is changing. The effect of the atmosphere affects every else on this planet; I think.

Insects are everywhere, here mosquitoes are so bad many bees are flying.

There are indeed insects everywhere! I'm in California and everyone freaks out if they see a cockroach or some ants. It's nothing compared to back east. We don't even have locust out here.

Don't really know about insects in the Midwest... But in the Northeast it is usually Silver Fish and Stink Bugs
