Crowdflower Confusing
« on: August 11, 2014, 07:37:57 am »
Boy, some of you seem to do really well on the tasks in Crowdflower.  Yea-a-a-y for you!

I've done a few tasks but this is what I'm finding.  On the few I've completed sometimes the instructions appear simple at first and then you attempt the assignment and it becomes very confusing regarding what they really want.  It's like you are guessing or frantically searching if there is anymore to it or is it right in front of your face.  Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't.

The time countdown doesn't help.  Sometimes I think I have the correct answer/info only to find it is incorrect.  I actually had to email Crowdflower one time telling them that the instructions turned out to be incomplete.  They agreed it may be the case and apologized, which I appreciated.  I think they credited me in several days.

Are some of you finding the same?  For those successful at this particular opportunity, is there a "trick" I'm not getting?  What do you think makes you successful?

I tend to only do the higher paying tasks so I don't experience any instruction issues.  I know I've tried certain types of tasks that I don't like so I don't do them anymore.

I always do help tickets with crowdflower if it's something I know I'm doing right but just isn't working

I do Tasks just about every day and have very few problems, but when I do I just clear my cache and cookies and start over. I NEVER send emails to support, that takes longer than starting over.

I'm kinda lazy when it comes to doing tasks. I only do the really and I mean the really easy tasks. Those complicated, long ones, I just gave up on. I don't want to discourage anyone, everyone is different and some have patience for these things and some do  not. :monkey:

I like doing higher-paying tasks, especially surveys. Can't go wrong with those. I do like some 5-cent tasks that are really easy, but that's as low as I go. I don't even attempt any lower than that.
If you are talking about the tasks that you have to complete in under 12 minutes, then yeah, some of those can be tricky. Sometimes, when I'm scrolling through tasks, I'll look at the satisfaction rating next to it, to see if it's worth trying. Three stars and up, I'll attempt, but if it's under three, forget it. There really are some easy ones. You just have to find them. If you find another tricky one, just click out of it and try another one.

I don't do a whole lot of tasks. I've been a member of the site and only made it onto the leaderboard once if that tells you anything. It seems like I start a task and think I'm doing great, only to be told my accuracy is too low.

If a task is broken -go to help and file a ticket. Most of the info is already in the window like the task number so there is little you need to type. They will credit you and send you an email too.

I love doing the tasks... I do the survey ones and ones paying 5 cents or more, especially the tasks asking you to verify websites... they pay 5-7 cents and there are a lot of them so I make good money with them

I  enjoy doing the tasks, but I must agree that some of them can be a bit challenging and even frustrating at times. I watch for the ones with the most flags and do those first. I keep a log of the tasks that give me problems so that I don't waste time going back to them.

I stick to the tasks that i know i understand. There are some that i will try and it seem simple, but the instructions are not good, so the answers will be wrong, so i just move on to another tasks.

I do as many tasks as I can  like I said before some are easy some are difficult and confusing but I at least try them  If I have problems with them I file tickets and usually get credit  When you find tasks you like stick with them, if you don't like them just don't do them, it's simple like any other thing on here, it is your choice 8)

I'm really confused by crowdflower. I'm amazed that some people can make so much money off it.

I know what you are saying they make it hard to get them so they don't have to pay out.

I make most of my FC money through the tasks. You have to be patient and find the tasks that work for you. If it's too little payout for too much time, just skip it.

A big help is also visiting the tasks page throughout the day. They post throughout the day so you should be able to find something that works for you.

I have nopt been able to do the tasks very often.  also any time I do try them i get fustrated of having the exact same ones and never finding all the easy high paying ones that everyone else seems to get.
