Work at home...for free????
« on: July 28, 2009, 03:00:29 pm »
Ok, so I need a bit of help here. I got laid off a year and a half ago. I was making big bucks, but the banks got in trouble and my company could no longer obtain the funding they needed to stay afloat leaving me out to dry. Gotta love the politicians! Anyway, I can't find work because I am "over-qualified" to do any of the work available (I really didn't think I was, but they all keep telling me that.) So I have been a homemaker for this whole time, not that I mind, but I liked making my own money. Three weeks ago, my husband got laid off! We probably made a dumb mistake and spent our savings paying off debts, but I don't wanna lose our cars and home! So now we are in a bit of a pickle. He will be going back to work in September, but until then we won't have very much income. So I decided to do what everyone else in my position is doing. I registered at monster, career builder, and snag a job. I submitted thousands of resumes and apps. Most of which had already filled the positions. Last Thursday I got a call from a young lady. She gave me information on a work at home job that was free....yes FREE! I was all ears. She said I could make anywhere from $200 to $600 a week doing a simple customer service job! I can deal with that even though every other customer service agency told me I was over-qualified. So I gt on their orientation call Friday morning. I followed the instructions to the T. After many emails and phone calls I finally got set up today. It isn't really a "customer service" job. It's more like a telemarketing gig. I get lists to call and get them to agree to a callback. If they agree I get paid wether they sign up or not. The problem is that the list I got contained nothing but businesses and I am promoting a plan for families and individuals! Obviously I had several hang ups and flat out"no's." So for the three hours I worked today I made a whopping $0. I know I am just getting started, but geez lol. Basically, my point is...Has anyone heard of an opportunity like this that is legit? I don't wanna waste my time concentrating on something that won't pan out. Obviously I need a steady income, so please let me know if you have. I appreciate all of your help!  ???

It sounds like a good gig lol...If you are actually speaking to the lady on the phone,  then I don't think you should run into any problems.  Keep up the good work and continue to make the calls.  You'll find people who won't hang up and blow you off lol....Hang in there!!! Good Luck!

I can relate a bit, but not that much. It's been a pain for me to find a job as well.

I went ahead and decided to give it a shot. I have made numerous calls and only one "lead." I think I just need to get more accustomed to talking to total strangers on the phone lol. I did extensive research via the internet and a few other outlets and I could only find one negative about the company and it was apparent that the bumbling idiot who wrote the negativity knew nothing about the company. I think he was trying to promote some clickbank business or something lol. They are even listed on the BBB site with no compaints, so they must be doing something right! I am going to continue to move forward and I will know for certain if it is real if I do not get paid next week. If it is a scam at least I did not lose money this time...just a bit of time I could have spent filling out job applications for places that I am over-qualified to work for LOL!

if you ever want to find out for sure if a company is legit or a scam, ask google! just type "is [company name] a scam?" and you'll get good answers from all over the place of people who have tried it and found out. it always works for me!

The funny thing is I have checked all of those sites. I cannot find any bad information on the company (except the person who OBVIOUSLY knew nothing of the company.) Actually that is why I have my reservations. The company claims to have been in business employing telecommuters the whole time. I get that part, but why is it that I cannot find much info on the company. You would think if people were really earning a living working from home with this company for 16 years SOMEONE would advertise for them. We all know how many scam opportunitites are available and see those advertisers hundreds of times per day, if not more. I guess I am just puzzled. I will continue to try it until I get to payday, if I get paid I will continue, if not I will quit. In the meantime I plan on putting most of my focus on my beauty business. I know they pay lol. I just need to get more customers and more traffic to my website. I spent almost all day yesterday putting together four programs for existing and new customers to get discounts and such. I beat the streets for 5 hours today passing out business cards, flyers, brochures, and samples. Hopefully that will help AND I will get paid from this other company. I HATE being broke! I wish I were psychic so I could have forseen this crisis lol!
