Taking out all the fun of baseball.....All they have to say is it couldn't be helped running into the catcher, right?
They need to get the pitchers protective helmets, that seems to me a bigger issue, too many pitchers taking a ball to the head straight from the batter's box.

Who cares if it takes the "fun out of baseball"?

If a catcher is sprawled out over home plate because he's catching a rocket from right field then he's left in a very vulnerable position. I think it's going to create more confusion than not. There's too much gray area with this new rule, but it should definitely add to the catchers safety.

I obviously wasn't being serious, don't take everything so literally.
No one watches baseball to see anyone getting hurt, which as a season ticket holder to a major league baseball team here in So Cal is a rare occurrence.

Just like when a pitcher hits the batter obviously on purpose, all the pitcher has to say is it was a accident.  So the same with a collision at home plate, all they have to say is it wasn't on purpose.   How can they prove otherwise, they really can't....he was in the way.

Now back to the pitchers wearing helmets, where the real damage in baseball occurs.

I'm not trying to argue or anything. I didn't think you were hoping players would get hurt.

I'm sure there's a huge difference between having a pitcher throw a ball 2" inside and nicking a batter and a 6'4", 200-lb player running (at full speed) down the 3rd base line to try to gain enough momentum to dislodge a ball that is already tucked in the catchers glove.

Just sayin'.

I am all for less injuries in baseball and football.

Hurts the game when star players are out.....they are always gonna happen...but to make an effort to reduce them i am all for it!!

I would like to see the collisions prevented.  They don't need to be in baseball.

I think its a good move, concussions and posey's knee injury are the main reasons, and it doesn't really change much of the game

I think it's going to be hard especially in close game when it is decided by a run. Not sure if umpires are consistent at all with their calls but it will take away the fun in the game. Hopefully instant replay will be helpful too. But I do believe pitchers should wear protective gears more.

I was a cathcher till I was 15 and had a few collisions, but that was part of the position and 1 of the reasons that you wear all that equipment!!!  so I dont really like it
