51st State?

As I understand the Colorado Counties who want to leave Colorado and form their own state it is comprised of the northern and eastern counties of Colorado who became upset when the Colorado legislature passed a series of gun control laws that essentialy upset the mostly rural counties of Colorado who enjoy hunting as a way to put meat on the table.  Sort of the straw that broke the Camels back.   Some of the rural sheriffs were quoted in the media as saying that they would not enforce the new gun control laws.

I haven't heard anything about a 51st state, just talk about dividing California into six states, so maybe 56 states in the United States?

I do not have an opinion because I never knew that there was a vote going on to elect another state to the union. I am a registered voter and I did not get a chance to vote on this 51st state.
