I struggle with dry skin as well.  I use Ahava Moisturizing Lotion.  It is terrific and is gentle on my sensitive skin.

The best lotion for dry skin that I have ever seen is Renew Lotion made by Melaleuca.  It has cured many cases of eczema, and outperformed Eucerin in clinical studies.  My daughter's mother-in-law has a terrible skin condition on her hands and has tried everything.  When she used Renew, she said it worked better than anything she had ever tried.

Moisture rich body lotion by clarins is the best darn body lotion hands down...it is pricey but it turns skin into skin...seriously I cannot complain.  Philosophy makes a really good body lotion also.  Night time use is obvious, the daytime who cares... It does while you are sleeping and really works.

I'm not too concerned with the brand (Generic is fine) but I use medicated lotion with aloe vera.
