Questionable Halloween Costume

I understand that a mother from Virginia allowed her son to dress as a member of the KKK for Halloween.  A percentage of people have questioned her choice to do that and she's even received death threats for posting a photo of her son, dressed in his costume, on Facebook.  She's currently defending her choice.

Personally, I think she crossed over a very sensitive line.   

What do you think?

Are you sure it was as a KKK member and not just a ghost?

Seriously, I sort of agree that the costume is inappropriate, esp. on a kid. I could maybe see an adult dressing up that way, esp. if it was done in jest, like Dave Chapelle's blind white-supremacist.

I also heard about a 12 year old girl that dressed up in one of the Legs Avenue costumes (Legs Avenue offers a bunch of adult, female costumes usually very skimpy and showing off a lot of leg). Again, that might be fine for an adult, but for a pre-teen is just in poor taste.

I think walking around like a murdered bride with a sliced throat and messed up hair and blood all over a white dress is in extremely bad taste as well.....very disturbing any way you look at it.  I am a Christian...Christmas and Easter are our most holy holidays.  Halloween is the most holy holiday on the Satanists calendar.  I have NOTHING to do with this evil holiday at all!

Well, it certainly wouldn't be my choice for a Halloween get-up but I've seen people dressed up as penises and vaginas, so this one sounds pretty tame to me, LOL.  I think political correctness has gone far enough.  We don't need to impose it on Halloween, too.

Hopefully she was just misguided and desperate for a costume idea. It was definitely not in good taste. I think the death threats are a little much in reaction. Someone should have explained her bad choice first. Then see if she still felt it was the right costume for her child to wear. Some people just don't always think before they do things. Hopefully that is the case here.

Well, what I'm wondering is why did the kid want to dress up as a member of the KKK? Did he think the outfit was cool without knowing the meaning behind it or what? Either way I wouldn't let my kid dress up as that.

Think this was about the stupidest bad idea in the long and tainted history of bad ideas! I feel sorry for the child much more than for her! And I REALLY feel sorry for those that get worked up over such a ridiculous act of stupidity! Rather than being angry they should be feeling pity for such a lost person!
