there are several games that i loved growing up (another thread reminded me of some of them) that were made into online versions.....

and the online (or computer) versions are just not that good...

Risk is one of them.... great board game, just not that good of a puter game......

what games have you played and loved as a kid that weren't very good computerized?

Scrabble....CHESS  (Love it).  But there's something about sitting opposite a "Live" person"  The thrill is gone when you're competing with an avatar or complete stranger!

I will refrain from saying Twister, Jenga, or Hide and Seek.  ;D Haven't tried many online board games, but not getting to chat to people as you play is probably the one downside I'd see.

ok here goes my twisted mind agai.....

online hide - n - seek could be fun.....

we could play in a forum like this....

you couldnt cheat by looking at the list of posts a person made to find them (we'd have to trust you)

the person hiding would post somewhere on the forum.....

and everyone else would have to try and find them....

the first one to post after.... would be the next one to hide.....

any other suggestions to the game?

Monopoly!  My favorite by far, and it's just not the same with an electronic version.  I still have the original board game that I played when I was about 20 years younger!

How about a board game I love and its online version is soooooo much better? It's called Carcassonne, and it's a tile-laying game. Point and click is easier. No more "lost" or dirty tiles. Best part about it, I can always find someone ready to play 24/7 online! And the scoring is automatic! Ok, so I love this game online. I should just start another thread...

Sorry is an old and rediscovered favorite for me - don't even know if there's an online version, though I don't think it'd be as satisfying as manually knocking somebody's piece off the board!

Monopoly... It just isn't the same as having a group of people fighting over one property. Or hearing the groaning when someone lands on your property with houses on it. Or when one person owns a whole two sides of the board so you hope you can go to jail just to save some money. The online version is okay but it is just not the same without the emotion
