:( This is the only problem. If you are self employed...you can do it. If you work for a company, the company does not want to do it because it has to pay you overtime.

4 10 hour days and 5 8 hour days both add up to working 40 hours a week so there would be no overtime. the tribe from my town gave people this option and they dont pay overtime to the ones who work 4-10's

I was thinking Friday, but then swayed to Wednesday... It would be nice to have a day off in between to break up the monotony and business!

that all depends on where you live. in some states that would be against the law. for instance, in california, overtime must be paid for any hours worked over 8 in a day and 40 in a week. so although you're only working 40 in the week, 8 of those would have to be paid as overtime because you worked more than 8 hours each day.

my husband's last job had a great schedule where he worked 12 hour shifts. on the first week he'd work 2 days be off 3 days and work 2 days, then the next week he'd be off 2 days work 3 days and be off the other 2. so he'd only work 7 days every two weeks but he's still have 84 hours, with 28 of them being overtime.

I voted for Friday, because in the summer at least most garage sales start on Friday. I wouldn't want my long weekend to be broken up, so I didn't pick Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Monday would be okay, but Friday is better because then you still have 2 more days before you have to go back to work! Another option I would like is 7 on/ 7 off, which they do for some employees at the hospital where I work. The hours only equal 75 for 2 weeks, because that is full time at this hospital. Then you have a full week of vacation every other week!

I picked Monday because for some reason it is just so difficult to get through a Monday for me.  Friday actually flies by but Monday seems to last for an eternity!  :sad1:

I work 4 10 hours but my schedule is sun, mon, thurs, fri and I work 11am-10pm.  I hate it - dont know if I hate the schedule or 2nd shift more...or the job.  Its probably the job because I think I would like 8am-7pm Mon-Thurs or Tues-Fri, it is nice having 3 days off a week
