I don't have a problem with so-called white lies if they are told so as not to hurt someone's feelings unnecessarily.  Otherwise the truth is most likely the best option.

I think it depends on the situation and the parties involved.  Sometimes a little "white lie" is needed to keep peace.....

i entirely agree. i have total strangers trying to help me with things and somtimes it is much easier to accept the help even though it isn't that helpful.
if I get to know them I can show better ways to help.
If someone asks my for an honest answer I will answer them diplimatically ex that psn't that most flattering style for you

I gotta say honesty is the best policy. It's an old bromide but it very rarely fails.

Good question... and a no brainer... Sometimes i just tell people you don't want me to answer that... I'm also not a very good liar and if you feel you have to lie don't say anything.  I would tell the truth even if it hurts because people should know the truth for their own benefit you are not doing anyone a favor.  The white lie and the half truths is a stupid idea invented... Do you really think it is not hurting anybody when they find out the real truth?  Why do you think it is in the 10 commandments and labeled a sin?
