I lost my grandmother on October 3, 1989 at the age of 83 and my mother on April 14, 1996 at the age of 55.  I learned lessons from both of them.  From my mother, I appreciated her for giving me  life.  She was a great cook, so I miss her cooking.  My grandmother instilled in me the importance of education, and I know she is looking down on me and smiling for going back to school at the age of 50.  I am now 54, have completed 102 (my progress report says 103) credit hours and, next year will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems.  I am on top of the world right now.  My daughter just graduated from Everest University.

I love you, Allener Perry Oliver (November 20, 1905 - October 3, 1989) and I miss you so much.  My mother has my love as well (Mary Eliza Oliver Hughes White - March 7, 1941 - April 14, 1996).

You have to love mothers! My mother did so much and was so patient...I am absolutely amazed.  I strive to be a better example than she was and find it extremely difficult.  She provided for me after my father was kicked out of the house in a nasty divorce.  She remarried a wonderful man who I claim as my father.  They were at all of my sporting events.  They patiently waded through all of the trouble that I created as a teenager. They helped me with expenses during college. They helped me buy my first house with a small loan.  They continue to be wonderful grandparents to my two children.  I have received nothing less than unconditional love...Thanks Mom!
