Does any body out there suffer from COPD?
« on: April 02, 2013, 06:20:55 am »
I do and sometimes I feel like my family really does not understand how hard it is. There are so many things I can't do anymore. I had always been a very active person, now I just want to stay home and not do much of anything. I think they thing I am lazy because I don't keep my house as spotless as I used to or go to every ballgame or event like I used to. Very depressing and lonesome sometimes.

Yes I do.  I was in the hospital for almost two weeks a few years ago.  I left on oxygen 24/7 and was told that i would be on for life.  I'm like you, could not do much was always out of breath.  The pulmonary doctor put me on meds and honestly, I'm fine!  There is nothing I can't do.  After the hospital I went for 8 weeks to therapy for breathing techniques and between that and the meds I'm back to normal.  I returned ALL of my oxygen tanks and concentrator 10 months after my discharge, and don't need them.  My pulsox is now 96 to 99, in the hospital it was 84!  I could never walk stores, going for a walk was totally out of the question, any activity was not going to happen, but now I do all that and more, shovel snow, cut grass, etc.  I would ask my doctor to put me on meds ASAP, and if you are and they are not working try another, there are a lot of different types.   Good luck
