Of course you can take it to the bank. If it is a Fusion Cash check, and less than $50, A Bank of the West will even cash it for free if you don't have an account with them. Look in the Yellow Pages for one in your area.

That is totally fine. It's not like there's any issue with it. A check is a check, no matter the amount. There's no shame involved with placing low amounts of money into a bank.
