I was an insurance adjuster, for over 15 years. I am a people person and was able to help those in distress. Like after their house burned down, or the heavy rains and wind in a certain area created havoc from fallen trees to flooding etc. I enjoyed my job until the company was taken over by another company and then the number of files to handle increased beyond being able to really help people. There was so much that you spent most of your time trying to complete your estimates, getting a cash check out, and going on to the next file you handled. That's right the company was interested in cutting costs, people were not the issue, but time constraints and closing a claim as quickly as possible. Well I could go on. But, for a long time I could not look at these cutesy insurance ads, especially one company. I resigned!

I'm not working right now but when I was I did not like it. I don't think I liked any job  worked at. It had it's moments when it was o.k. to be there because of the people but the jobs itself no

I used to work as a Chore/Housekeeper.  I have nothing against the elderly, but when they are grouchy and obstinate, it is hard to work for them.  I even worked for a lady who had this inane idea that I worked for the FBI and wanted her fingerprints, as weird as it was.  I hated that job because I worked for a lot of different people.  When they described the lady as "eccentric", they did not lie. :o ???

Soon I may be to happy for words. Thanks to FusionCash I am back in my old field, sales! And a lot of free lance and direct option  positions around. Thanks to Oldbuddy, I have a new business and some other sales positions. Just need one to kick in good and life will be on track again. Today I have the possibility to return to my old business and job, if I like. Thank the GOD and thank the Lord!  :angel11: :angel12:

I used to be an insurance sales person. I worked a year but finally quit because they were so money hungry and competitive it was depressing.  We were taught to see each person as a dollar sign.  Believe me, insurance companies DO NOT Care about people they are totally motivated by the money.

There are some things about my job that I like.  The pay and benefits are pretty good compared to jobs I have had in the past.  I really like some of my co-workers.  The work itself is just OK.  What I really dislike is all the corporate stuff that goes with it.  I hate having everything I do "graded" by a "superior."

I believe that everyone should try and work somewhere that they like!! Its very hard to be successful if you don't enjoy the place you spend most of your time!

I can't say that I work at a job I don't like, because I don't currently have a job. Although, the work I do on a daily basis is a pain and I don't like it at all. I have had a job in the past that I didn't like though. However, with the way things are today I think anyone who is lucky enough to have a job should be grateful that they have one, regardless of how much a pain it might be, because there are loads of people who wish they had a job they could say they don't like but unfortunately they aren't employed and can't find a job. So, I think if you have a job no matter how much you dislike it be grateful that you have a job because lots of people would love to have your job simply because it would mean they have an income.

I quit the job I couldn't stand 5 years ago.  Haven't worked since.  I'm scarred.

I think a lot of people are probably in the same boat as you.  Ever since the economy tanked, employers are relying on fewer people to do more of the work.  Since so many people are out of work, there is always someone ready to come in and do the job for less pay as well.   I'm currently doing three jobs for one paycheck.   I keep doing it because if/when the economy turns around, I will be in a position to show why I should get a very large raise.
Yes, I used to supervise someone who up and quit yet the place never rehired for her position, so I'm totally overwhelmed with work.  But I shall not complain because at least I have a job.  I kind of like my work but it's so overwhelming, like I said, and I can never get caught up.

Add another one to the unemployment line :(. My previous job was at a call center, one of the worst jobs in the world, but I'd take that over unemployment any day.

Have you thought of doing call center work from home?  I know it's not ideal since you hated it, but there are companies that hire home workers for call center stuff.

I sold insurance for some great companies and you can too. Just go find some people you want to work with. And all of the companies I worked for cared about people, that is why I worked there.  ;D
