:) Can someone explain to me what is generic food? I usually buy fruit, vegies at Asian farmer market. But I buy meat at Kroger because i think it is more fresh.  ;)

We don't have Kroger here in Midwest where I am anyway, but keep hearing about it. I don't usually buy generic so much, I look for sales more and then stock up on the sale item.

There is very little difference that I can tell. I buy generic because I can save money. It seems however, alot of the Walmart's Great Value is priced about the same as the name brand stuff, now. I do most of my shopping at Kroggers (Fry's Food Store).
I was lying in bed the other night, looking up at the stars, and thinking, "Where in the heck is my roof?"

Mostly I purchase brand foods.  I have discovered that there are some generic brands that are just as good as the brand foods.  However,  when it comes down to store biscuits,  I love the Grands biscuits.

I buy generic but also get buy-one-get-one-free name brand products because they are less expensive. I always buy Heinz Ketchup and Kraft Mayo though.

I buy generics all the time.  In fact, my favorite brand of canned vegetables is a generic.  Actually I don't like any canned vegetable, but if its not gardening season, what can you do.

I hardly purchase anything that even comes in a generic so it's not really an issue. If there isn't much of a price difference, I will get the brand name.

I buy generic all the time. Some things I won't buy generic are stuffing mix and mayo. I can get creative enough in the kitchen to make just about anything taste good.

I buy lots of generics, but if I have coupons or there is a sale, you can get the brand names for less than the generics some times.  I get mostly frozen vegetables when it is not gardening season.  If you read on the labels, very often the generic or store brand is packed by the same place as the brand names.

In most cases, they're fine and just as good (in fact, BETTER because they're cheaper!). However, there are a few products where paying more for quality matters...

I buy generic all the time because it is something that saves us a lot of money. In my experience I have found that the majority of generic products are comparable in quality to the name brand products, they just cost a lot less.
In fact, my mother once told me when I was younger that many of the generic products are in fact made by the big manufacturers.
