Check Cashing in NYC

One of my referrals has earned their first check from FC. They received a check in the mail and tried to check it at a check cashing place. Actually, they tried 3 places. No one will accept the check it seems at check cashing.  I personally use checks from FC and deposit them in my bank account.  However, for someone that does not own a bank account and does not want to open an account is there anywhere in NYC that accepts these checks?

I've heard of that happening before on my other site. All I can suggest is trying another check cashing place or depositing it into a bank account, which is the best option as that is never rejected.

Did they state a reason, so your friend could ask FC, if then they could have someone deposit it for them.

I'm sure there is somewhere that will cash it such as the convenient stores that cash checks. Maybe they can try Walmart too. In the future, they can get a prepaid debit card and sign up for direct deposit.

I don't know why they won't cash the check.  I would say if they tried every place give it to a friend to deposit in their account and give your friend the money.

They finally found somewhere that cashed it. All I can say is I never had any problems just putting it in my bank account. Probably just there is so much fraud with check cashing places and they see a name of a bank that they are not familiar with then it is a hassle.

Wow ... that's a bummer. Maybe they should try Paypal or open a bank account although now that they have cashed it, they should be able to cash the next one there too

Here is a suggestion, Walmart has a card called Bluebird and it cost $5 one time and you can add money to is when ever you want. I don't know if walmart will cash the FC check, but I think it is worth the try.

maybe if they mail it back to fusioncash and maybe the money could be added to their account...is that possible?

and then the check doesn't expire soon so they have time to find a solution
