"DISCRIMINATION OR PROTECTION"
« on: May 01, 2009, 04:57:24 am »
Do you think that Mexicans are being discriminated because of the Swing Flu or now known as "H1N1"???

It's sad but true!!  :sad1:

sure. up here, people will avoid them. some are transient...coming and going as they make money. their employers here will pay for them to fly home once a year. some have been here for years and never plan on going back. people are just afraid because you really don't know a stranger's history.
i'm not going to discriminate...evreyone's a potential hazard if this gets any worse!
use "universal precautions" and you'll be ok.

Personally, whether you're Mexican or not, if you've been to Mexico in the past few months I'd avoid you.

Possibly because of the Swine Flue Pandemic and its initial start, yes.  But also because of those stupid enough to go to Mexico and then Return to the U.S. they are bringing the virus back with them. :BangHead:

Us mexicans dont have much control ofer the virus really but sometimes people just have to be stereotypicall. Just like i could have H1N1 you may be black/white/asian and youcould possibly still have it. HEck i bet this would probably be a new stereotype or a while

i don't necessarily see it as discrimination towards mexicans as people. it's just a FACT that you don't know who people are. and with something this big it's hard to be too careful. if some strange disease were coming from kentucky.. i'd expect others to be leery of me as well, lol.

I just feel many people are overreacting. About the discrimination..  people need to realize that the virus is spreading to other people and it's not the whole nation of mexico who's infected.

How is it discrimination to attempt to stay away from people where an easily contracted illness is rampant?

Am i going to go to mexico right now...NO im not am I gong to avoid someone simply cause there mexican no I won't that is where people are being ignorant there are two people in colorado with confirmed swine flu and they are not mexican. Im not gonna run p and shake there hand. But there are dumb people that are taking it too far by saying see we should close the borders so those immigrants can't poison us...HELLO!!!!! it is already in the us and it is other people spreading it.... Sources are saying that it entered from some school girls in NY who vacationed in mexico... Be cautious of this swine flu people but don't push blame on whoever you can
