identity theft/ fraud
« on: November 14, 2012, 06:23:50 am »
A speaker came to talk about this topic and how to protect yourself.
Using a debit card instead of a credit card is one way.
I have asked merchants that I make purchases from that they NOT save my financial information.
There is an incognito window on the browsers; that helps.
The speaker told us that even hospitals take and MISUSE  patients' information [Social Security #] when they become patients.

My daughter just had an incident with her debit card.  She used her account information and opened up a Zoosh account.  This person was from Nigeria.  Fortunately, she was able to contact the bank and get the $104 refunded back to her account.

Thanks for the heads up.  I will start using my debit card starting tomorrow.  I had a incident with my credit card and had to have the account closed.
